Family Support

  • This week Dror assisted a family with the purchase of an entire wardrobe for their two-year-old child.
  • For Chol Hamoed Sukkos, Dror ensured that the families had a true simchas Yom tov by arranging tickets for the boys to the Yiddish-language “Interen Shrift” play. Our sincere thanks to the play’s producer R’ Lazer Newhouse.
  • On a subsequent day of Chol Hamo’ed, a trip was arranged to Hershey Park in Pennsylvania. These children, whose fathers were unable to take them on the traditional Chol Hamo’ed outings, were given at least this aspect of normal life by Dror.
  • Dror had organized for a few of the families to spend Yom Tov with their extended families overseas. They all returned after Yom Tov full of joy and filled with chizuk for the long year ahead.
  • We would like to thank our two dear members Amrom Israel and Yoel Usher Labin for giving of their time on the busy erev yom tov to arrange for the distribution of a large sum of money to the families of Dror.
  • A meeting was held on October 10 led by our Rav, Harav Stein, along with our esteemed Legal team at the house of the Mirer Rosh Yeshivah. In attendance was esteemed Rabbanim and Askanim and City Councilman David Greenfield. The discussion centered on strategy regarding a very important case.
  • Over the last few weeks, Dror finalized the schedule for this year’s shabbaton. It will be full of inspiring and enjoyable programs for the families who are going though such hard times. This is made possible thanks to the efforts of the Ornstein Family who’ve made it their yearly project to make this Shabbos a success.

Food Program

We’ve sent out more than 200 delicious meals, over 100 boxes of pizza, and 10 boxes of fresh cookies to the Dror constituents. Our thanks to Moshe Leib Stern ongoing, gracious assistance throughout the year.

Transportation

Dror would like to take this opportunity to thank all the volunteers: Duvie Birenbaum, Mr. Brisk, Noach Prero, Burech Veiner and Nachman Leifer, who gave of their own family time and spent their day driving families up to go visit their loved ones.

A special thank you is due to our dear sponsors V. Steinmetz and S. Licht who paid for the car rentals and covered the gasoline costs for the trip.

Miscellaneous

Over the time of his campaign the newly elected DA Mr. Ken Thompson has met with the Dror members a couple of times and told them
that he would like to meet with them as soon as he gets into office, as he’d heard that we are the ones who deal with such cases in the community.

Dror askanim attended the yearly Chabad Shluchim Convention, and met with the Chabad askanim whom we deal with in the area of pidyon shvuyim in their locales around the world. These organizations include the well-known Aleph Institute, and Shluchim to Japan, Mexico, India, and others.
